Just checking in. I was in the Us for a few months but now I have been back in Arendal for a month.I never was able to get the RSV plated. I have been riding it anyway but not too far. I'm afraid it will lead to some serious problems if I get caught so. It is very difficult to try to go the speed limit.
I like the roads and scenery here alot. Its a very nice looking country. Other riders dont seem to want to ride too fast or in groups though . Any of you guys been riding around Arendal lately?? Any events coming up?

unfortunatley, i am not bringing my rs 125, because it's still not fixed yet. The supplier sendt me the wrong top, a flat one instead of a dome one.

So how are your plans about the RSV 4, you were talking about last time you were here?

ive been driving up and down Arendal twice this summer..saw an RSV driving past me on a Gas station near the highway on brokelandsheia..google it! thought it maybe was you.

the Grand prix norway is having its last year in Arendal, so you should defintly watch it..speed boats dont know exact date, around 18th i think.

Thomasi I dont think it was me unless you saw me near Rykene or between Blakstad and Rykene. I have been afraid to go much further with no plates. Pettroh I was in Risor a few weekends ago. I know where it is. So you guys will be coming around for the boat race??? When you do you guys are welcome to come by the house. I would be very interested in seeing a 250 or 125. I am not familiar with these bikes but I would like to compare to the RSV. You can take the RSV for a quick ride. It pulls nice 100km wheelies

And as far as the RSV4 idea goes I think I have figured it out. I have been pulled over by the police in my Jeep with US plates several times. They say it is ok for 1 year per vehicle to drive on US plates. You have to have insurance also.
They say I must keep paperwork with me at all times to show when I brought the vehicle into the country.
So basically I could ride a RSV4 for 1 year with US plates without having to register. Then I could ship it back. I can get a new RSV4 in the US for fairly cheap. So I think it is a plan. I am assuming this applies to MC the same as cars right?????????????
I screwed up with the RSV because I bought it new and shipped it to Norway without ever registering it in the US. So it has no US or Norway registration. I'm working on that now to register it in the US so I can at least have a US plate on it if no one buys it.

If it was my choice, I would ship it back to US, and get it plated. There's Alot of taxes and such you've got to pay for when registering a new bike in norway. Not sure how it is in the US though.
But I guess its alot cheaper than in Norway!

I'll promise you, its A LOT cheaper in the US than Norway.
I don't even know if i dear to test the RSV, as i am only 17 years old. And is i ride, thos devil horns appear, and tells me to go faster. And i can't even imagine how much power that bike got! Anyways, i have bought a 140cc sylinder kit to my RS 125. Can't wait to see how it goes with it. Too bad i can't bring it there this year. Would love to show it, because it is also newly painted.

Pettroh I really dont think you would have trouble. The RSV1000 can have a sharp kick (tire slippage or accidental power wheelie) in 1st gear only. After that (2nd and beyond) it is too heavy and not enough power to lose traction too much. It will slightly in 2nd gear but not too much.

What makes the newer 4 cylinder 1000's dangerous for newer riders is that in 1st-3rd gear they can be unpredictable and instantly slip the rear tire or accidental wheelie unpredictably.

I would ride my ZX10 or GSXR1000 in 3rd gear around turns at well over 100kmh per hour and suddenly slip rear tire by using too much throttle. The ZX felt slow until around 8k rpm and then suddenly too much power for some situations.
The RSV1000 does not do this because of high weight and lower hp. It really is a milder bike in stock form compared to some of the other 1 liter bikes.
I would not recommend the RSV4 though as it is a little wild.

The only problem is that you can't read all the cool worklogs on peoples bikes.

im not sure if im coming with my rs or boat, or if im even coming..depends on the weather. If i do ill be living on tromøya, if know where that is? where they had a huge festival and stuff

If you dont want to get speed tickets stick to country roads, where you never see cops. Highway is boring anyway. If you take a trip over the mountains(hardanger) i can ensure you that you will enjoy the road up there, no cops, pretty decent standard at the top, little more scary roads when you drive near the shore, beautiful nature and best of all; thousands of curves!

Your bike is pretty interesting, but unfortunately I don't think that the bike will be available to get license plates on here in Norway because of some new rules in 2003. Older bikes than 2003 could be registered here in Norway with some paperwork. Recently read the rules because I had plans of importing a ZX-636RR or SXV550 from the US (as it's alot cheaper). Just thought I should inform you about this in case of planning to get the coming (?) US-plated RSV4 registered here in Norway.

Anton what I have learned so far is that to get a US bike registered in Norway you have to have a COC (European conformity document) that has the VIN on the bike etc. US bikes do not have this. And the manufacturers do not want to give you one.
So you can have the bike tested by the TUV in Germany. To show that the emissions, lights, exhaust noise, etc. is within EU standards. Then with that documentation then you can register it in Norway. The UK has similiar testing.
I do not understand why Norway does not offer this testing.

Be very careful on the Japanese bikes. I was going to bring my ZX to Norway. I did not because it is not up to EU standards. The Ducatis and Aprilias are EU homogonized but they do not come with the proper documents if you buy them in the US. But once tested the Ducatis and Aprilias will pass. Most of the Jap bikes will not.
