New in Norway

Legg innav adrtree » 23 feb 2011, 19:19

Hey guys I have recently moved to Norway. I'm an American from the South and married to a Norwegian woman. I have only been here 2 months and I do not speak Norsk yet. I am trying to learn. I wanted to say hi anyway though. I have a 2008 RSV1000 currently. Its for sale on fin and I want to buy an RSV4. I have about 20 years experience riding with sportbikes and I'd like to meet people to go riding when the weather improves. I live near Arendal.
Thanks,
Allen 3708-8776

Hello, and welcome to Apriliaforum!

I love the RSV1000, but the RSV4! Omfg, that bike is just amazing! Did you import this bike from America?
Could you please upload some pictures of your recent bike and post here? I would love to see the bike!

I've got a suspicion that it might be this beauty?

If you want to ride with others, you can come join the 1. May "springrelease" or in Norwegian "Vårslipp". A motorcycle club collect riders from all Norway and Scandinavia, about 3-4000 riders ride this course. This is arranged in Rogaland, might be a long way to travel just to meet other riders. Maybe there is something like this arranged near you?

If you click on this link, you will find some pictures I took 1. May last year. Also saw a black and gold colored RSV1000, such a beautiful bike!

To upload pictures you could try these links, guides with pictures. :)

https://apriliaforum.torvald.no/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=263

If you register here, you can upload 5 and 5. Also remember to resize them to 640x380 or something like that.

Hope you will stay here on the forum and update us with new bikes and the upgrades you do! :)

Anton

Thanks Anton. I will check it out. And yes that is my bike on finn. I would sell it for about half that pprice if someone does not want it to be registered. The government makes things very expensive here. The other orange bike is an 09 ZX10 that i did not bring to Norway. Believe it or not though the ZX is more HP I was much faster up the mountains on the Aprilia. 184-189hp on the ZX compared to 143-145hp on the Ape. Every time the Aprilia was faster in the turns. They both have lap timers so I always compared them.

No unfortunately my wife does not ride. She is afraid of the sportbikes. Both the Aprilia and the ZX are uncomfortable for me over a long ride. The ZX does not inspire confidence when riding. The ZX feels un natural and rigid compared to the Ape. It takes some time to get used to the ZX. It has a powerband at high rpm 8k+ . It is sluggish until you reach that rpm and then suddenly it is very powerful. Makes wheelies interesting.
On turns Blood Mountain or the Dragon, the road is a low to high 2nd Gear and occasionally low 3rd gear run. On the Aprilia you are perfectly in the powerband most of the time. where the ZX you are always sluggish or too much power but never just right. The ZX has zero low to mid range. I have always timed much faster on mountain runs on Ducatis and Aprilia's than Japanese Liter Bikes even though I have owned more Japanese Bikes. I guess it is different for everyone and it depends where and how you ride. By the way what is FRP and Hoy???????????????????????????/

Welcome to the forum! Nice to see more people with "grown up" bikes here. If you're looking for other riders in your area Bike.no would be the best place to start looking.

That's your opinion :D We need to distance the government from the private sector, and give people more ''spillerom''. We have a gigantic bank account with money.. Why not spend a little of it and lower taxes? We can establish new incom sources with it, and don't have to rely so much on our oil :D I think it's very idiotic that a car is so much more expensive here that for example in the states. Why shouldn't we drive a gigantic v8 without seling our house and our soul to get it?

First of all, the taxes is not fun... but its protecting our income. Lets look at farms and what they produce in norway, with out the taxes there woudnt be a marked for it here, everything would been imported and thats a fact for many types of companys and jobs.

About saving the money... Yes, they should use more of it, but not everything. And any side should know that.. We accually have generations comming after us you know.

And politics are much more then just taxes, roads and shit. Even though its alot of it, with forexample schools, and houses for old people... they wanna turn it into more private and not "kommune" controlled or by the state. What norway has now, works very well and even though USA looks like the sweet life, there are very many starving people and people who dont got shealther... So if you wanna dream, but end up with making things worse, be my guest vote blue... but if you want a working community, even though not everything is just the way you want and everyone accually lives well (almost) vote red :)

It's not :) The topic is: New to Norway, and we present to him our opinions about the new nation he have come to :D

We have to watch and learn from other sucsessfull nations :D USA is pretty heavy under in debt, and i don't say we should copy their economy. Your argument is pretty weak :P You focus on the things I have not said anything about. If the blue side is elected, we wont get more poor people:P They don't want to change the whole infrastructure, just polish it a little.

Well guys I guess politics is a touchy subject here in Norway. . Coming from America I can tell you that you do not want your country to end up like America. The US is failing now badly.
One main problem that caused this in the US was many people who do not work get money that the Government takes from hard working people. At the same time the government makes themselves rich with the takings. It is more corrupt than you can imagine and getting worse every day. It was nice when I was young but now it is bad. I think it is good to take care of the sick and the old but not to take care of the LAZY.

The other problem is we wanted things so cheap (China) for products that we put half our country out of work and now half the things you buy are shit quality. All of our manufacturing is gone and all the jobs with it.

We wanted services to be so cheap that all the construction, logging, landscape, roads, etc etc. went to Mexicans who will work for cheap and now we have 50 million mexicans in the US(half of them living off the government and taxes and the other half working for nothing) and now no working American can find a good job anymore. Carpentry pays the same hourly rate as when I was born(1973). It all worked well for about 20 years then it failed.

But enough about politics. Thanks for the welcome I will look forward to riding with some of you in the future hopefully. Inunf do you live near Arendal??

So how is with the snow down there Allen? Pretty much dissapeared already here! I have already seen many bikes on the road.
Hopefully the same situation down in Arendal? or is it still alot snow down there?
